The beauty and the power of the Beretta U22 Neos

The beauty and the power of the Beretta U22 Neos

IT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF AN H.R. GIGER PAINTING OR A RIDLEY SCOTT FILM, BUT IT’S NO SCIENCE FICTION RIFLE – IT’S THE BERETTA U22 NEOS 2400, ONE OF THE MOST STYLISH AND MODERN HANDGUNS OFFERED BY BERETTA. INDEED, THE STYLING OF THE NEOS WAS INTENDED TO BE RADICAL AND MODERN.

In several ways, the design of the Neos is novel. Like many contemporary pistols, the frame of the Neos is a simple rail and the grip is in a separate, non-serialized piece. The striker is visible at the rear of the bolt when it is cocked. The magazine release is in an unusual location, located on the right side of the frame above the trigger guard actuated by the trigger finger of a right-handed shooter or the weak hand of a left-handed shooter. Its form factor is similar to that of the Colt 22 Target, with a lever rather than push-button safety.
Like all Beretta handguns, there is some history behind this gun. Sadly, on the 15th of September, 2010, Beretta announced a recall of the u22 Neos. Some, but not all, of the guns fired even when the safety is on or when the safety is moved to the on position. However, there is good news – This recall only applies to earlier versions of the U22 (you don’t want an older model anyway) and Beretta has released detailed instruction on determining if the pistol needs service on their U22 support page. As far as anyone knows, no one was injured as a result of this defect, and since everyone deserves a little forgiveness, why not try the Beretta U22 Neos out? No other gun has as much style or grace.
