beretta hand gun, buying online – the many hoops to jump through and how to get through them
MANY PEOPLE, WHILE LYING AWAKE AT NIGHT, CONSIDER THE MANY THINGS THEY CAN PURCHASE ONLINE WITH A VISA CREDIT CARD – FROM TAMPONS TO DOG FOOD TO CELEBRITY BACK HAIR. BUT CAN YOU BUY A FIREARM ONLINE, PARTICULARLY BERETTA HAND GUN?
The answer is yes, yes, yes and yes – if you’re willing to go through the full process.
First of all, as you may have guessed, the Beretta hand gun cannot be shipped directly to you. Mail is stolen all the time and it would be a disaster if some cracked out criminal got a hold of a dangerous weapon. So guns are shipped directly to licensed ATF firearm dealers known as FFL’s. They are all too happy to help you with the transaction, which involves handling ATF paperwork and completing the NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System). FFL’s usually charge a small fee for doing this, which ranges from free to $30.
If you do not qualify for the purchase, which must be completed at your local FFL, you will not receive the firearm (which would make you sad, wouldn’t it?) the gun will be sent back, which is subject to transportation and restocking fees. Don’t forget to make doubly sure that the firearm does not violate state law. You will almost always be required to fill out ATF Form 4473 at the FFL and take the NICS check. Usually, they’re looking for the following qualifications: you must be the adult purchasing the gun for yourself, be a US citizen living in your state, not addicted to any illegal drugs, not mentally ill or “crazy,” adore your country with undying patriotic devotion, not convicted of any felonies, not a fugitive, under arrest, convicted for domestic violence or dishonorably discharged from the nationalist United States military. Other than that, it’s not much different from buying a gun in person. Good luck and have fun with it
